About Me
Welcome to my practice! I'm Edine, a dedicated midwife with a passion for supporting families.
My midwifery journey begins with the birth trauma I endured during labor and birth having my first daughter, Elle, in 2014. As I was on my healing journey from postpartum depression, I decided to share my experience to prevent this from happening to other women. While sharing birth stories and researching, I came across the term 'doula' which eventually led me to the birthing world. I was so intrigued by what doula work entailed that despite having a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, in 2016, I made a drastic career change to become a certified full spectrum doula at Ancient Song Doula Services, where I provided free or low cost services for birthing persons in need.
The passion for the newfound journey led me to midwifery school after a preceptorship with a hospital and home birth midwife. Eventually I graduated from SUNY Downstate and have since became a licensed midwife in the state of New York and New Jersey. Throughout the years as a doula and now as a midwife, my focus is on reproductive justice work and birth equity for people of color, as this is always a topic of discussion in my community work. In 2018, as a second year midwifery student, I had the chance to experience a home birth with my second daughter, Evie. This transformative and enlightening experience solidified my love for birthing families and their right to birth choice.

With years of birthing experience and a deep commitment to personalized care, I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where expectant parents feel empowered and heard. My approach to midwifery is rooted in compassion, respect, and evidence-based practices, ensuring that each individual receives the highest quality of care tailored to their unique needs and preferences.
Being a pregnant and/ being a parent is not always easy therefore I felt that expansion of the village can help ease the minds of families that need the support. Ubuntu Midwifery was created for the village.
In my free time, I volunteer to teach children and young adults of color about midwifery in public and private school settings. I love reading health books, sharing the wealth of knowledge, and learning more about Haitian culture. I love to spend time with my husband of 16 years along with my two lovely daughters that I breastfed past 3 ½ years of age; and is why breastfeeding holds a place dear to my heart.

I believe that pregnancy and childbirth are transformative experiences that deserve to be honored and celebrated.
Whether you're seeking a natural birth, exploring your options, or simply looking for guidance and support, I am here to provide you with the knowledge, resources, and emotional support you need to make informed decisions and feel confident every step of the way.

I am honored to be a part of your journey to health or parenthood and look forward to working together to create a positive and empowering birth experience for you and/ your growing family. Let's embark on this incredible journey together!

xx,Edine W.
